Terracotta Tile Roof Restoration Process
An aerial view of a house with a red tiled roof

If you love the heritage look from your terracotta roof but it’s feeling a little worse for wear, we share JMZ’s 6 step terracotta tile roof restoration process that has made us the industry leader in roof restorations across South East Queensland.

Considered the Rolls-Royce of roof tiles, terracotta homes are either glazed or unglazed in the colours of orange, red orange or brown.

A restoration by JMZ will not only enhance the original look of each tile, but you also have the option to create a totally new look with a different coloured roof membrane from the Globalcote or Colourbond colour range.

If you’ve noticed a change in the colour and condition of your terracotta tiles, call the team at JMZ Roof Restorations on 1300 760 076 or visit us online here for professional, honest advice on how to make your home look brand new again.

Why You Need a Terracotta Roof Restoration

Terracotta tiles have the capabilities of being waterproof, fireproof and providing protection against the elements.

"However, the problem that is commonly found with terracotta roof tiles is that they attract moss and lichen which can give your home an ugly appearance and can compromise the strength of the roof tiles."

The age and condition of your home may also influence your decision for a roof restoration. Many homes with tiled roofs over 10 years old have not been maintained well and will require some degree of repair and/or maintenance.

Plus, you may be surprised to know that most home and contents insurance companies will not cover damages if general roof maintenance has been neglected.

Natural movement of homes and hot and cold conditions can also affect the quality of your tiles. If you’ve noticed the change of colour or appearance to your terracotta roof, then it’s time for a clean-up with JMZ Roof Restorations.

Choosing a roof colour isn’t just about what looks good. In Ipswich, it can also impact how hot your home gets, how long the coating lasts, and how well your roof handles storm season. So how do you pick the right colour — one that’s both beautiful and practical? Understanding Ipswich’s Climate and Its Impact on Colour Ipswich homes face a mix of harsh elements: Intense sunlight and UV radiation High summer heat - Seasonal storms and heavy rain Airborne dust and debris Dark roofs tend to absorb more heat, which can raise internal temperatures. They also fade faster under UV exposure. Lighter roofs reflect more sunlight, keeping your home cooler and helping the coating last longer.
