Difference Between Re-Roofing and Roof Restoration

Re-roofing is upgrading or replacing the entire roof surface with either new roof tiles or metal sheeting.

Roof restoration involves working with the existing roof surface by cleaning, carrying out minor repairs and resealing the roof surface with roof membrane products designed specifically for roof surfaces.

When Would A Roof Need to Be Replaced Instead of Restored?

Roof surfaces that are beyond repair due to age and deterioration need to be replaced. Where metal sheeting has corroded and has cancerous rust or in the case of tiled roofs, where the roof tiles are brittle or roof tile profile are no longer manufactured or can be sourced from suppliers.

Can A Roof Restoration Help Prevent the Need for Re-Roofing?

Roof restoration is classed as roof maintenance that is required generally every 15-20 years. Maintaining a roof surface prolongs the lifespan of a tiled or metal roof surface, minimising the need to going down the path of replacement.

A roof restoration is the most cost effective solution as it is approximately a third of the cost for a roof replacement.

So how do you pick the right colour — one that’s both beautiful and practical? Understanding Ipswich’s Climate and Its Impact on Colour Ipswich homes face a mix of harsh elements: Intense sunlight and UV radiation High summer heat - Seasonal storms and heavy rain Airborne dust and debris Dark roofs tend to absorb more heat, which can raise internal temperatures. They also fade faster under UV exposure. Lighter roofs reflect more sunlight, keeping your home cooler and helping the coating last longer.
