Our roof repair service includes the cleaning and repairing of your terracotta roof, however, we always advise that a full roof restoration will be longer lasting, offers more protection and will be the better long-term solution.

If you are wanting to go ahead with a repair – and not a full restoration project – we recommend looking at the bigger picture. For most people, their home is their biggest financial asset, so it’s important that you prioritize looking after it and protecting what you’ve worked hard for. A roof restoration will give you peace of mind and security that your home is kept in top shape.

It’s also important to consider the age and condition of your roof, we often see roofs that need more repairs/maintenance than first thought. This can be due to the age of the roof,

The age and condition of your roof may also indicate that more significant repairs are required. Generally, roofs aged between 10 – 15 years old which have not been maintained regularly will need some form of repair/maintenance due to the roof tiles being porous and natural movement of homes in hot and cold conditions.

Regardless of which option you go with, regular roof maintenance is a must. You might also be surprised to hear that most Home and Contents Insurance Companies will not cover damages where they find that the homeowner has let the general maintenance of a roof lapse.

We recently had to make a claim on the 10 year warranty, because some of the clear coat after 8.5 years started to break down.I admit I was a little worried because the roof restoration has had some negative publicity.We need not have worried with JMZ they were great to deal with and our warranty claim was verified and within 2 days we were told that our roof would be cleaned and recoated no charge under the 10 year warranty.The office staff and the guys that did th work were fantastic! and the roof looks great( best in the street) I have no hesitation in recommending JMZ to my friends and relatives! thanks JMZ

Our experience with JMZ was extremely positive, professional and smooth. John was great to negotiate with and a fabulous representation of the company from the first moment we met him at the Brisbane Home Show. The ladies running the office operations were all knowledgable, friendly and highly efficient and the roofers themselves were absolute legends! Our job was performed expertly, no dramas, and in a highly professional manner from start to finish. With so many roofers out there, so many companies to choose from and such fierce price competition, we were really comfortable with our decision to go with JMZ from the first moment. Yes, maybe we could've got it all cheaper elsewhere and gone with a lower quality product on our roof, but we didn't want a roofing gang who would simply disappear if there were any issues down the track. We wanted an honest, well-established company, which proudly stands by it's workmanship and products for years. Thank you to all at JMZ for doing a fantastic job. Our terracotta roof needed a good clean, tiles replaced and ridge tiles cemented, as well as a clear 'sealant' over the roof instead of painting to keep the terracotta look of the tiles. The work was done by a team of guys who were very professional and worked tirelessly from start to finish, and cleaned up afterwards so everywhere was spotless. We are very happy with the result. The contact and information received from the office was also excellent. We would certainly recommend JMZ without any hesitation.

JMZ have repainted my 1980 colorbond roof where all the paint had gone chalky and washed away. My house has a cathedral ceiling with no insulation and was impossible to add insulation to and so in summer it was a hotbox and needed to have the aircon running anytime the temp reached 30 degrees. JMZ painted my roof in white infracote and the impact has been immediate. Previously coming home to a closed house on a 30 degree day, the inside temp was about 32, now it is 22. So impressed with this product and the team who installed it I can thoroughly recommend it to anyone who has a building that is hard or like mine, impossible, to improve the insulation. Am looking forward to much nicer summer living and a lower power bill as well.

From original contact to job complete, payment and sign, everything went like clockwork. All staff were neat clean tidy and professional as was the roof renovation. The "other bloke" turned up early in clothes covered in paint and jumped around on the roof like a heard of elephants. The JMZ team were above expectations in every respect, nothing was too much trouble to keep this customer happy. And the roof looks great. It's always a risk to hand over your money to anyone for projects at your home. In several cases, I find unprofessional service, people don't do what they say they will and I'm left with substandard workmanship. I've had some bad experiences with the last paver and aircon installer.Well, happy to say none of the above applied to the work that JMZ did at my house. They were professional in their communications before, during and after the job. They delivered exactly what they promised and so far we have not had any issues with the newly painted roof.Would recommend them for roofing restorations!

JMZ completed the restoration of my low set tiled roof. The whole process was quick and easy. They even worked in with the fitting of a solar system so as to complete repairs and replace any additional broken tiles. They even left some spare paint and replacement painted tiles in case of future issue. The work was completed on time and on budget. Prices were competitive for a premium service. You can get much cheaper with less reputable companies but you get what you pay for. I would recommend this company to anyone.

We recently employed JMZ Roofing Restorations from Cleveland to repair and repaint our roof, and to reseal and colour our driveway and the concrete areas around our home.From our first appointment to ascertain our needs and to carry out a detailed inspection, the follow-up provision of written details of the proposed work, everyone at JMZ Roofing Restorations was very friendly, organised and professional. There was no high pressure sales talk, and everything was clearly set out in writing so that there were no nasty last minute surprises.All of their employees were absolutely amazing, hard working and very professional. We recently booked a roof restoration with JMZ Roof Restorations. Pre the restoration work the weather forecast was predicting torrential rain. After she called for a quote, she received a very professional info pack in the mail and began to get concerned about the anticipated quote. However she was pleasantly surprised how they came in under other quotes!Not only that, they went above and beyond by matching the concrete colour to the tiles for the 'pointing', and they replaced tiles that were cracked/broken at no extra charge (BL supplied some spares). Had our tiled roof done by JMZ at the beginning of May . We had watched their work on a neighbours roof and commented on what wonderful workmen they were, as we never saw anyone "slacking off" over the two days it took to do the job. We hired them on their referral, and definitely did the right thing. From day one the 1st team cleaned and disinfected our roof and were polite and business like, Day 2 Brendan and his offsider were the same. Common Problems found with Terracotta Roofs

Broken Roof Tiles

Deterioration of roof tiles from weathering, ground movement or even walking a roof by an inexperienced person can cause roof tiles to crack, break or be chipped. Leaving tiles in this condition result in water leaks during rainfall.

Broken Ridgecapping

A combination of age, ground movement and poor pointing materials used in the initial construction of your roof generally leaves ridgecaps opened to potential leak issues.

Bedding & Pointing

Cement Pointing a combination of sand and cement that was once a common bonding agent used in roofing, ages and breaks down with ground movement and weathering. Flexible Pointing is now available and has replaced Cement Pointing. Globalcote Flexible pointing is JMZ’s preferred adhesive for the securing of Ridgecaps to a roof surface.

Broken Tile Caps

Tile clips help keep roof tiles in place. Tile clips are located and sit on a water course channel underneath a row of roof tiles. Tile Clips are know to commonly break and as they do become clogged causing blockages and a free flow of water from own the water course channel. As a result, water leaks become evident.

Valley Clips

Valley Clips secure cut tiles in valleys. It is known that these clips can break causing tiles in the valleys to slip resulting in water leaks.

Sarking

Is a Foil designed to reduce the transmission of moisture into a home and acts as a second skin to protect your interior from storm driven rain and dust. Ageing of this foil can result in tears requiring either replacement or repair. It is also now commonly found that during install of other items to the roof surface like skylights or solar can result in third parties cutting into the sarking film leaving an open area for water to enter into the roof cavity during rainfall.

Valley Irons

A gutter system installed during construction of a home where 2 roofs meet. Valley Irons allow water to flow down off a roof and into the gutters. Valley Irons can be found to be installed not wide enough and during heavy rainfall cannot cope with the volume of water and channel it down the roof into the gutters. A solution to this issue can either be widening the valleys or installing Valley seal to block water away from entering inside a roof.

Valley Seal

Valley Seal is a foam product that is designed to prevent water entering into a roof cavity during heavy rainfall. Like all products exposed to the elements and weathering valley seal can deteriorate and over a long period of time needs to be replaced.

Terracotta Roof Repairs Process

Changing Broken Roof Tiles	Broken, Chipped and Cracked Tiles are replaced
Rebedding of Ridgecapping Where Required	Ridgecapping is rebedded where Ridgecaps are misaligned or need resetting
Repointing of all Ridgecapping	All Ridgecaps are repointed at a uniform thickness of 3-5mm to secure the ridgecaps to the roof. This is done using Globalcote’s Flexible Pointing. Flexible Pointing allows small ground movement without cracking and makes the roof secure and water tight
Valley Clips	Valley Clips installed to secure all valley tiles and prevent sliding of tiles in all Valleys
Valley Seal (optional)	Valley Seal is a pliable foam strip that can be applied to all Valleys. It forms a barrier and directs water during rainfall down the roof and valleys into the gutters. Is also a prevention against leak issues
